Dark Type

Dark-type Pokémon play dirty—in the best way. With sneaky tactics, disruptive moves, and a flair for unpredictability, they thrive in the shadows. Outsmart your foes and win before they even know what hit them.

Dark-type was introduced in Generation II to balance the game. In Gen I, Psychic-types were too strong. Dark Pokémon are immune to Psychic attacks and hit them super effectively. They're also weak to Fairy-types (since Gen VI).

Dark-type isn't about being evil. It represents traits like being tricky, clever, fierce, or tied to shadows and mystery. Think of survival instincts, nighttime behavior, or powers that people might find intimidating.

Dark Pokémon aren't naturally bad--how they act often depends on their trainer. Some are misunderstood or seen as taboo in human society, but they play important roles in nature (like Absol sensing disasters).

Dark-types are often found with villains and criminal groups, much like Poison-types.

Trainer Tips
  • Exploit their shadows: Dark Pokémon excel against Psychic and Ghost, but they’re vulnerable to Fairy, Fighting, and Bug.

  • Expect dirty tricks: Moves like Knock Off, Taunt, and Foul Play disrupt and punish careless play.

  • Mind their cunning: Many Dark-types rely on unpredictability, using status and trickery over raw force.

  • Respect the night: Often found lurking in wild frontiers or under cover of darkness, they thrive where light fades.
