Fighting Type

Fighting-types bring raw strength and relentless pressure. Whether punching through walls or countering threats, these Pokémon thrive in the front lines. Train hard, strike fast, and never back down.

Fighting-type Pokémon specialize in close combat, relying on punches, kicks, and other physical attacks rather than special moves—opposite to Psychic-types, who focus on mental power.

Most Fighting-types are humanoid in form, representing martial artists or specific combat styles, from Machamp’s bodybuilder physique to Hitmontop’s capoeira-inspired design. Some, like Conkeldurr or Pangoro, embody raw physical strength instead.

Many Fighting-types are predominantly male, reflecting their connection to traditional warrior roles. Their evolutions often symbolize a fighter’s journey of growth, training, and self-discovery.

Fun Fact: There are only 5 Fighting-type moves in the Special category: Vacuum Wave, Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Final Gambit and Secret Sword.

Trainer Tips
  • Exploit their strength: Fighting Pokémon smash Normal, Rock, Steel, Ice, and Dark, but falter against Psychic, Flying, and Fairy.

  • Expect heavy hits: Close Combat, Drain Punch, and Bulk Up make them fearsome physical attackers.

  • Mind their discipline: Many rely on setup—shut them down early before momentum builds.

  • Respect their training: Found in mountains, dojos, and fields, they embody endurance and determination.
