Flying-types are often based on birds and insects, with many living at high altitudes. Their strength lies in wind and aerial attacks, and while most have wings, some notable species like Rayquaza and Gyarados fly without them.
Flying has been paired with every other Pokémon type, with Hawlucha’s introduction completing all possible dual-type combinations. This versatility makes Flying one of the most widespread and flexible typings.
Interestingly, no Pokémon was purely Flying-type until Generation V. Before then, only Porygon, Kecleon, and Arceus could achieve pure Flying typing in battle through abilities or signature moves.
A weakness to Ice is, in most cases, a weakness to Water. Water Pokémon often know Ice moves to help with their Grass weakness. Also, although Flying Pokémon are immune to Ground-type attacks, Ground Pokémon usually have access to some Rock moves. Some caution is still needed when facing Ground-type Pokémon.
Flying-type is a part of a perfect type triangle: Flying-Fighting-Rock. A perfect type triangle means that all of these type are super effective to each other and resist each other. Flying is also a part of two imperfect triangles: Flying-Grass-Rock and Flying-Fighting-Ice. An imperfect triangle means that these three types are all super effective to each other but they do not all resist each other.

Trainer Tips
Exploit their skies: Flying Pokémon sweep Grass, Bug, and Fighting, but they fall to Rock, Electric, and Ice.
Expect speed: Many are fast and evasive, striking with aerial moves like Brave Bird or Hurricane.
Mind the hazards: Stealth Rock shreds Flying-types—keep entry hazards cleared to protect them.
Respect their domain: Found on cliffs, in forests, and soaring high above, they embody freedom and agility.
